OFS: Sharing Parent Wallets and Setting Allowances

You must configure your wallets to share a single parent balance, or to enable a spending allowance for each child's Dining Card.

Updated this week

TeraBite creates an e-wallet for each member of your family, for those who would prefer to manage each child's balance individually. It can also be set up to share a single parent wallet, as with our previous system.

Your child's OFS Dining Card is able to use the full balance of either their own individual e-wallet, or your parent e-wallet, without restriction.

Individual Child, vs Sharing Parent E-wallets

For those who would prefer to manage just a single wallet, children in the same family can share their parent's main e-wallet balance as our previous system allowed.

Allowing your child to share your parent wallet

To enable the single wallet sharing, navigate to "Wallet", then select your child's profile. Toggle "Allow to deduct to main user's wallet" to on.

If you would like to not allow your child to share your balance, and would prefer to manage each child's individual wallet, you may turn this setting off.

Limit Spending - Individual Wallets

If you wish to limit your child's daily canteen spending, you can easily configure spending allowances for all of the cards registered to your family, on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Please note: configuring a spending allowance does not change your e-wallet balance. You must top up your e-wallet to make funds available to your child's card, even if you have an allowance set.

If you set an allowance that is too low, your child may be unable to purchase their lunch, and may be turned away at the counter. Please configure a reasonable allowance for their grade level (recommended minimum in ES: $8.00, MS/HS $9).

Please also note that if you are using the "Deduct Main User's Wallet" option above, you must set a Daily Quota instead. Please see the next section for guidance.

  1. Click "Wallet"

  2. Select the child you wish to set an allowance for.

  3. On mobile, click the menu icon, then "Set Spending Limit". On desktop, you can just click "Set Spending Limit".

  4. Choose between a daily, weekly and monthly allowance, and set the relevant amount.

  5. Save the allowance.

Limit Spending - Sharing Parent's Wallet

If you have enabled the wallet sharing function, you cannot limit card spending using the previous method, and must configure a Daily Quota.

  1. Click "Wallet"

  2. Select the child you wish to set an allowance for.

  3. Under their wallet details, you will see the option to enable parent wallet sharing. At the bottom of this box, click the pencil icon to edit the daily quota.

  4. Set an appropriate daily amount (Lunches are $7.50, so we recommend a daily quota of $10 to ensure your child can eat lunch and also buy a morning snack).

  5. You may review and edit this quota at any time. They must be set on a child-by-child basis.
