All Senior School students are required to have a personal card linked to the family e-wallet for payments in the canteen.
What cards can I use?
You can use one of the following card types:
Suitable | Not compatible |
NETS FlashPay (16-digit CAN) | NLCS-issued Student or Staff ID card (due to data encryption) |
EZLink (16-digit CAN) | Other RFID cards e.g. house or office keys (invalid data format) |
Why do I need this?
In the previous academic year, there were a number of issues with direct EZLink payments, including slow transaction times, rejected transactions, and lost cards.
The new portal and cashless system allows us to:
Process transactions in half the time (under 2 seconds per transaction), reducing queueing and ensuring all students have a meal
Ensure that each student/user has a valid profile
Restrict children's purchasing to avoid consumption of any configured food allergies
Charge users who have lost their cards
For parents and families, the system is beneficial as:
It allows you to set a spending limit ("Allowance"), so that your child does not spend too much money at school.
It allows you to lock out items based on your child's food intolerances or allergies.
It provides a single view for all of your child(ren)'s canteen spending with detailed breakdowns, rather than the basic overview that paying directly with EZLink gives you.
Losing a card does not mean any loss of Victus meal balance (it is stored virtually in your e-wallet, not on the card).
You can use a single portal account to manage profiles for all of your children, sharing a single e-wallet amongst children who require pre-ordered food, and those who can purchase food themselves.
How do I link cards?
Before you start linking cards to child profiles, you will need to have completed setting up your family account.
Create your child's profile
From the portal homepage, or on the menu bar, click "Child Profile"
Click one of the following:
On desktop: "Add child" at the top right of the card list.
On mobile: The blue child+ icon, on the bottom right of your screen.
Fill out the required details:
Child's name
Child's grade
Child's class (e.g. G7A)
Date of birth, ID number etc are optional
Set allergens (Dairy, Egg or Gluten)
Click add to save
Link your child's card
As the card functions as a personal ID on our system, each child should have their own card.
It is possible for siblings in the Senior School to share a card, however they will either need to pay together, or hand the card to the other sibling in the queue.
From the portal homepage, or on the menu bar, click "Cards"
Click one of the following:
On desktop: "Add card" at the top right of the card list.
On mobile: The blue card+ icon, on the bottom right of your screen.
Input the 16-digit CAN number from the back of your EZLink/NETS FlashPay card (e.g. 1000 2000 1212 2121)
Important: Set an allowance, or disable the allowance function.
"Active" means you must set an allowance - if you leave the allowance at $0, the card will not work at all. You may set a daily, weekly, or monthly allowance - we recommend no less than $12 a day.
"Inactive" means your child will be able to spend all of the money in your e-wallet without restriction.
Expand the "link card" box, and select "child". Select your child's name.
If you wish to add a card for your own use at the Budge Square café, click "Parent". NLCS staff may also use the "Parent" mode.
Click "add" to save.
Change or replace a card
In the event that a card is lost, broken, or swapped with a sibling, it is simple to re-link cards, or to remove a card and add a new number.
Remember: balance topped up to your Victus e-wallet is never stored on the card itself. All Victus balance will be accessible through your family account, and will not be lost if the card is damaged or misplaced.
However, balance stored on the card itself (i.e. normal EZLink value for MRT travel) will be lost, unless you have set up the card in the EZLink app. Please refer to the EZLink website for help and guidance.
To unlink/relink a card:
Click "Cards" on the portal homepage or menu bar.
Next to the card you wish to unlink, there are 3 grey icons.
Click the "unlink" button, which is an oval with a cross through it (the second/middle option).
The system will ask you to confirm. Press "unlink".
The card remains in your account, and can now be relinked.
To relink, click the "link" button, which looks like a chain.
You will be prompted to select the parent/child profile you wish to link the card to. Select your profile, and click "add".
The card is now relinked.
To remove a card
Click "Cards" on the portal homepage or menu bar.
Next to the card you wish to delete, there are 3 grey icons.
Click the "delete" button, which looks like a dustbin (the third/right-most option).
You will be asked to confirm the deletion. Click "Remove".
The card is now removed from your account - remember, no balance will be lost in this process as all money is stored in your family e-wallet.
